This week is #nationalinfertilityawarenessweek. Infertility is something that MANY women struggle with, you most likely know several, but perhaps they haven’t come out and spoken about their reproductive status (probably because it’s none of your business ?). This week is meant to bring awareness and to help those couples, who are challenged by infertility, to cope and know they aren’t alone. Matthew and I went through the pain of infertility. We lost each other every now and then to the stress of it and the disappointment that it brought every month. We are grateful though. It made us stronger and for the couples who are facing it now.. try and stay positive and patient with one another..although I know that’s easier said than done. Like I said, we are grateful because infertility led us to Dr. Abuzeid and IVF..and IVF gave us our two little girls. As you can see, we placed two embryos. We were so happy we did because one of these embryos did not take (the reason I want people to know this, is that not all ivf procedures work because maybe it just wasn’t the right embryo.. so try and stay positive!) but the other did and then split, giving us our identical girls. We fought like hell for those girls and it was frustrating, tiring, disappointing, stressful, and made me question my faith many times.. but I wouldn’t trade those struggles for what was at the end. With all the said, for the people who have not been through this.. please know how hurtful the question of “when are you going to have kids?” Really is.. just try and remember people might be going through something behind closed doors and really is that any of your business anyways? I want all of you struggling to know you are not alone. #nationalinfertilityawarenessweek (excuse all grammatical errors.. I always sucked at writing papers)
