In the final days of packing up my house before beginning our journey to Iceland, my dearest friend gave me the most thoughtful gifts that brought me to tears. She knew I couldn’t take a lot with me – she’d been with me through the process as Chris and I sold & gave away most of our belongings, and she tirelessly helped me pack the ones we were putting in storage. So instead of giving me something I’d have to pack, she gave me a necklace I could WEAR with a favorite Bible verse to encourage me and a bag I could USE with our favorite pictures together on it! Not only was this useful, but it was perfect because I had a portable “picture frame” I could roll up and then hang wherever I was! It’s wrinkled in the picture because it’s gone through far more moves than I’d ever imagined! But every single hotel, Airbnb, house, apartment, condo we’ve been in – states and abroad – I’ve hung that picture frame bag. And it’s meant the world to me to have that as a reminder of my best friend who has supported me, loved me and prayed me through some of the most challenging seasons of my life. When she gave it to me, she also filled it with things I’d need for my trip… like my favorite chocolates & instant mocha packs, because “I might not have a coffee maker everywhere we stayed”. ? Her thoughtfulness in our friendship has impacted me beyond words, and her faithfulness to pray with me, rejoice with me and cry with me through the ups and downs has healed my heart of things that I didn’t even know needed healing.
