Crowe was created on 7 April 1964, in Wellington, New Zealand. He also includes English, German, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Scottish, Swedish, and Welsh ancestry. He had been born to Jocelyn Yvonne (née Wemyss) and John Alexander Crowe. Both of these were picture set caterers. Crowe’s paternal grandfather was from Wales, although among Crowe’s maternal great-grandmothers had been Māori. He’s a cousin of former New Zealand cricket captains Martin Crowe and Jeff Crowe and nephew of Dave Crowe.
