They were from a young man in Alabama that wanted to kill me. I notified the police in Los Angeles who saw it as a serious threat and contacted the police in Alabama. The Alabama police went to the individual’s house and found proof that he indeed was on his way to personally kill me. He had taken his mother’s car and had made some purchases at a local Walmart. In Alabama at the time, shotguns could be quickly purchased without background checks. The officers were concerned enough they started to track his movements by the credit card purchases he was making on his mother’s card. Every law enforcement agency along Interstate 95 was on the lookout for his mother’s car and it’s Alabama plates. He even purchased a hotel room that the police surrounded only to have this determined young man escape their capture. This went on for over three days until the young man just disappeared. During this time I was certain he was watching me and going to kill me. Oddly, he turned up right near Charlottesville, Virginia. He had crashed his mother’s car on a side street and ended up in a ditch with a broken hip. He was treated at a local hospital and arrested by the FBI as he checked out. He was charged and put in jail, but was found unfit to stand trial for reasons of insanity. This young man was a member of the neo-nazi party and a white supremacist. He wanted to kill me because he thought I was Jewish. Even after it was proven to the young man I wasn’t Jewish he refused to believe anything else because his hate was so strong. When someone hates they are capable of anything. This hatred we have witnessed in Charlottesville is against all of humanity — not just Jewish people. I had played Jewish men as an actor and thought I understood their hearts and minds. But not until this incident happened did I actual know what it was like to step into the shoes of a Jewish man.
